Brand

Launched in August 2021, Derma Equation is the brainchild of our back-to-basics skincare philosophy. Their dermatologist-inspired formula aims to restore and maintain balance in our skin. The product range is minimal and gentle, thus making it suitable for most skin types.

What Is It?

Derma Equation’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum is an oil-free and fragrance-free moisturizing serum. The main benefits of using the serum regularly is improved skin elasticity and reduced fine lines.

Ingredients

The serum contains water and hyaluronic acid. Derma Equation prides itself in minimal and fuss-free skincare, so it’s no surprise that there are only 2 ingredients present in the serum. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is naturally present in our bodies, and is also a humectant and draws moisture from the air.

Texture & Smell

The serum is transparent and fragrance-free, and is easily absorbed into the skin.

How I use it

Attending classes and working remotely sometimes causes me to “overwork” and stay up till the wee hours of the morning, causing me to look pale and tired. Oftentimes my cheeks and chin would dry out and signalled a need for a new moisturizer. Instead of using my aloe vera gel in the evening, I swapped it out for the Derma Equation hyaluronic acid serum. After cleanser, toner and vitamin c serum, I apply the hyaluronic acid serum all over my face.

Pro-tip when layering skincare products: Always start from the watery-base products before moving on to heavier creams.

It has been 2 weeks since I started using the serum and I am pleasantly surprised that my skin has regained some of its plumpness. I also find that my cheeks and chin do not dry out as much anymore.

Conclusion

The hyaluronic acid serum has been extremely helpful in hydrating my skin – definitely a must-try for people with combination (oily-dry) and dry skin. The price point is a little steep, but anything for the skin is always worth the investment.
